Welcome to My Catholic Femininity Community

Our Patron, Our Lady Undoer of Knots

The mission of My Catholic Femininity is to inspire personal reflection and deeper meditation on our own hearts so that we may grow deeper in personal relationship with God.  In doing this, we will achieve Sainthood!

Looking into our hearts is not easy.  There are many heavy objects - dirty, broken, and even hidden.

To help us on this journey, it is fitting that our Patron be Our Blessed Mother Mary, Our Lady Undoer of Knots.

Read on for a history of Our Lady in her role as Undoer of Knots.

Around the time of the 1600s, a newly married couple was experiencing disruption, tension, and disagreement.  This split them apart to the point of being on the verge of official separation.

In an effort to save his marriage, the husband went to a priest and begged for prayers.

This priest took the couple's marriage ribbon and while praying for the Blessed Mother to intercede and to help save their marriage, he began unknotting the tangled, faded ribbon.

As the pries untied the tangled ribbon, the ribbon took on a shiny brightness - turning whiter than the word can describe.

The tangles and knots in the couple's relationship immediately vanished and peace returned to their marriage.

To show gratitude, the couple's grandson many years later, who became a priest, commissioned the painting of Our Lady Undoer of Knots.  The painting was finished and placed in St. Peter am Perlach Church in Germany.  Pope Francis discovered the painting there and later brought it back to South America with him, further spreading the devotion across the Church.

As is with this devotion, the "knots" in our own lives, in our hearts, no matter how hopeless or tangled up they may be, are no match for the skillful, motherly hands of Our Lady.
